Travel

Salzburg is considered by many to be in the heart of Europe.

"The World is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page." - Saint Augustine

Because of its central location, you can easily reach the fabled Austrian Alps, which are surrounded by beautiful lakes and meadows, take a weekend trip to Vienna where the café culture began, visit the "hundred spires" of Prague, see the Blue Danube, wonder through the old city streets of Budapest, cross the Alps into the medieval villages and rolling hills of Northern Italy, or visit the picturesque Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany.

Munich, an international hub for traveling, is located just two hours from Salzburg. Salzburg is also home to a large network of trains and busses that makes it easy to get to nearly all of Europe. There are many discount airlines available, as well as student prices for trains and busses, making travel very affordable.

At Salzburg College, students are strongly encouraged to travel. Classes are rarely held on Fridays so students are able enjoy long weekends spent on adventures throughout Europe.

There is also a 10-day break during the semester programs which allows for a more extensive travel period. During the program, day trips are also taken to locations in the surrounding Salzburg area as well as Vienna and Munich - travel regulations permitting, of course.
