Applying to Salzburg College is easy and the application process is similar to that of other colleges and universities.

Study Abroad Program Application

Your home university may have a direct affiliation with Salzburg College. In this case you can apply through your Study Abroad Office AND complete the online Salzburg College Application.

An affiliation may also exist through CCIS (College Consortium for International Studies). Please check with your Study Abroad Office. You must also complete the online Salzburg College Application.

If your home university does not have an affiliation with Salzburg College, please contact us directly or apply through the Study Abroad Office at Northern Illinois University. You must also complete the online Salzburg College Application.

Eligibility Requirements

• Sophomore, junior, or senior status at an American  undergraduate institution at the time of participation.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.70, based on a 4.0 scale, at the time of application.

Application Deadline Study Abroad Programs:

• July 15 for the Fall Semester
• November 15 for the Spring Semester
• April 1 for Summer Sessions I, II, III & IV
• March 15 for Summer Internship Program

Application Process

The appliction process involves several steps.

Step 1: Complete the digital application form.

Wait for the confirmation email with further instructions.

Step 2: Complete this step by uploading the following materials & completing the following forms:

• Statement of purpose
• Confirmation letter from your study abroad office or NIU stating that you have been approved for the Salzburg College program
• Copy of transcript
• Housing information
• Consent and release form, medical coverage
• Copy of passport
• Proof of language proficiency (non-native English speakers only)

Wait for the confirmation email with further instructions.

Step 3: Complete this step by uploading the following form:

• Course registration

Bachelor, Gap Year, University Prep & Certificate Programs Application

Students wanting to enroll in a degree or certificate program need to apply to Salzburg College AND to Northern Illinois University through the Study Abroad Office at Northern Illinois University.

Eligibility Requirements

• Applicants must meet the admission requirements of Northern Illinois University.

• July 15 for the Fall Semester
• November 15 for the Spring Semester
• March 15 for the Summer Semester

Step 3: Complete the application process with NIU.

Upload the acceptance letter from NIU to your Salzburg College application.

Step 4: Course registration - Salzburg College will complete this step for you based on the evaluation of your transcript(s) through NIU.
